With the advent of a new year, we often spend time reflecting on the past. Mistakes, frustrations, disappointments, and hurts often collide in a chaotic jumble as we assess previous events—often I must say with regret—and attempt to realign ourselves for the future.
Today, as 2008 settles into place, I invite you to reconsider some of those “troubles” and count them as unexpected blessings in your life. Yes, I said blessings. That’s because I firmly believe to be successful and happy in this world you must develop a sincere state of gratitude, which means creating an energy field of acceptance and harmony within yourself, even for those events or situations that initially appear to be far from a blessing.
Gratitude is powerful, and it is an important element in making the law of attraction (manifesting that which you desire) work in your life. By expressing gratitude each and every day, you begin to manifest more happiness, more harmony, more success into your life. Chuck Dane, founder of Enlightened Journey Enterprises, says that “Whatever you are feeling, whether it be love, fear, anger, happiness, joy, gratitude, resistance, etc., you are in essence creating a magnetic force that attracts and draws to you events, conditions, and circumstances which are in direct correlation to what you are feeling.” In other words, fear begets fear, confidence begets confidence. Expressing gratitude for the events in your life signals acceptance and therefore helps to attract an outcome you desire.
For me, 2007 was a year of changes—many of them quite difficult. And I too struggled to make sense of some of these disappointments. And then I was told that the number seven represents completion and number eight new beginnings. And I also remembered words of advice offered through a weight loss program I once attended: each night before you go to sleep, make a list of ten things for which you are grateful. As I began to embrace a new attitude about my life and to express gratitude for all that I was experiencing, new beginnings did indeed start to unfold.
Today, I am proud to stand at the helm of Soul Purpose—an enterprise poised to illuminate the minds, bodies, and spirits of individuals throughout the world—and an endeavor that is my personal testament to the power of gratitude.
